I just came across this on the news and have NO words, surprisingly. I'd love to start laughing and not stop until New Years if I did not suspect it may do some harm across the board. Holyyyyy Heck. I get dismissive about Suzie Homemaker ovens......

The little girl puts on an apron with magnets, and the doll 'latches on'.

:eek::wideeyed:

My goodness. What next. I was trying to identify why it is so disturbing. I still can't put my finger on it fully but:
I think it is again making a child too adult for their age.
The concept is not age appropriate and there is almost a s*xual element to it somehow.
I think little girls should be free of thinking of their bodies as being for procreation in such a specific way.
Symbolically there is something disturbing about how the image presents to others.

I could have titled the thread ' Trolling for Bloom ' since she'd have stats, etc.,on exactly why it's so, so SO awful and begin a slow crawl to the factory in camo.... . :whistling:

I deliberately did not post the stock photo of the little apron OR the little girl ' breastfeeding '. Honestly? Too disturbing but just go Google this and hit ' Images ' if you think you can stnd it. There are far too many victims of childhood sexual abuse here, women who were sexualized deliberately, against any will they had, at this age for me to once again decide it was OK to violate 'something'. THAT is how bad the images are IMHO, for real. Some d*m corporate man came UP with this, for money, is the thing, not a women's group who felt real education would be the point. I honestly, honestly do NOT think I'm making too big of a deal of this- am going to write letters, to be sure! ABC did a blurb on their morning show. The news anchors did not like it, en mass, but also did not react with shock, scorn and dismay. Certainly part of their job is to remain balanced but some things require throwing journalistic perspective right the heck out of the 47th story window.

I agree Anni. I also did look it up on youtube before I commented. It is very "off". I guess at least the apron does not have breasts attached!

PS. Also disturbingly the marketing has many graphic images of real breast feeding which I imagine then makes the child even more aware of the significance in term of their own bodies.

Knowing things as a concept (age appropriate) and relating them so graphically to oneself and ones own body are two totally different things in my opinion.

I think this is what bugs me too. I know it's not suppose to be sexual thing, but I once saw a man trying to get a glimpse while I was nursing my son at a fair. Keep in mind I tried to go to a discrete place away from the crowd. My sister blocked me. If this man thought it was sexual, who knows what other men think of these little girls doing this.

As open minded as I am trying to be I just can't get pass the sexual angle.

Just talked to my 14 year old son about it. Apparently he saw it online. He said it is stupid, and, yet, people keeping buying it. He definitely has a point.
