@Solara I have come to the realization it is outside of the law, but my point is not specific to financial forgiveness - it also relates to academic forgiveness. The school's medical documentation standard is somehow much lower for academic forgiveness, but for financial forgiveness there is some unspecified standard they are looking for that only makes sense for non-mental health cases.
I'm neither young nor idealistic, and can I assure you I pick my battles carefully. There have been many things before this that I thought were "unfair," but I have let them go. And maybe that's part of this, too. That everything has sort of boiled up and the target happens to be this school. I really don't know anymore what I'm trying to accomplish. I think I've managed to confuse even myself. I'm sorry for taking up everyone's time on this.
