It's been a very long time since I was involved in "official" therapy. I have discovered though, through trial and error, some coping strategies & diversions that have helped in this journey.
This past fall/winter I found a new one.
I put up some bird feeders and have found that watching them along with the other nature the feeders have attracted, squirrels, chipmunks, deer, hawks, have afforded me some renewed inner peace and a healthy distraction. I can sit for hours and watch these beautiful creatures, and not think about anything.
They've also come to know me and welcome me with lots of chirping and singing when they see me heading out the door in the morning to replenish the feeders. Another reason to get out of bed in the morning.
