Weed & Alcohol

I'd be all in @Sarg . It's got to be socially accepted more and then these corporations need to accept it's medical use.

Although most these days overlook it, I still need to be clean. It is what it is I guess.

The VA itself is investigating the efficacy of MJ for PTSD. It started out down at ASU with a rather prestigious Dr. at the helm of the study, but then the VA ran her off and is now studying it, itself. Which doesn't make me real comfortable what the outcome will be. However, there is so much well established info out there that it helps, it's difficult for the VA to continue to ignore it.

There are a number of delivery mechanisms these days besides smoking it, or even eating it. I have used Vaping to nearly quit smoking cigarettes, well one can buy vape delivery devices these days. I've tried them and they really work. High pain relief (both physical and mental) while lowering the "stone" is evident at the first use.

I did alcohol and illegal pot for many years and shudder to think how it has shortened my life. You younger folks might look long and hard at cannabis use, it works and isn't that damaging.

Sarg
If we took alcohol with cannabis eaten for medical purposes only and put them on scale versus VA med s on which is heaviest on our life span I bet VA meds would be the heavy one. Pick your poison, just like deciding where you want to live in the world you pick which natural disaster you can survive the best, cause everywhere they exist.

I know this post is old but I want to put the word out for other vets, The edibles in cannabis aren't like the MRE's we ate , it's discrete, and I personally seen night and day in my life, I denied 11 years of taking it by thinking there's got to be help through therapy, pills, or moving out to mountains all helped a little bit but all led to worsening the condition in some way. I ended up scaring the shit out of myself more than once but the recent one was so bad I called 911 on myself. When I got out of jail I threw my pills in wood stove and went to nearest cannabis shop and I'm not looking back. I have gotten so much more done than pills in 11 years it was eye opening. About me I have PTSD from childhood life and war serving 03/04 Iraq in 187th out Ft Campbell KY as infantry,

I too have been thinking about trying Medical Marijuana. (11b- Iraq-Afghan -w- chronic migraines [shrapnel injury to my eye] and PTSD). Because my disabilities are lifelong, I've always told the VA no narcotics as a precautionary to potential addiction and abuse. But my friends that use it say that its not addictive. Congress now says that the VA can discuss MM as an option, so i'm going to ask them about it. My biggest concern is that I do not want to go out in public, or be around my children completely stoned. I want the medicinal properties vs. the high. The VA has given me some really dirty medicine (especially the SSRI's MAOI's and anti seizure meds) and i'm looking for something that is both natural, and with much less side effects. From what I can see in your messages, you have found it not only to be helpful, but does not hinder your life in anyway?
