Weighted Blanket. What Do You Do When You Don't Have It With You?

I have a "sleeve". It's a long-ish tube of stretchy material that I put on like a tube top, with my arms curled up around me inside it. It puts lots of pressure, like a big hug. Helps SO MUCH when I don't have my weighted blanket.

The other idea that just came to me is how I used to always ask for an extra pillow. Everyone always just assumed that I needed one for my neck. When in reality, I always hug a pillow up tight in front of me. It makes me feel like I'm protecting my ...vulnerable side.

I've gotten panic attacks on flights since 9/11. We were traveling and blah blah blah.

Anyway my max time before freak out has been 3 hours. I've not flown much since. This month I flew to Europe and ordered a smaller 4lb blanket to carry with me. No freaking out. Stayed completely calm and relaxed on the nearly 8 hour flight. The only time I gotancy was on the 2 hour connection on the last leg. I packed my blanket for that flight and got a touch of wanting to scream and claw but overall an incredible experience.

I spent the night at someone else's house a few months ago. I didn't have my weighted blanket but...
Wow! I had no idea there was such a thing as a weighted blanket and it's ties to PTSD!
This makes so much sense to me given my current situation. I am in a domestic violence shelter and sleeping is beyond horrible- and it is because there are not enough blankets here. Well, blankets that press against me. I only have been able to pull from the closet two fleece throws and a coverlet/spread. I might as well only be sleeping with a top sheet! Going to look for some clips to try some suggestions mentioned earlier. Wow! Had no idea - just thought it was just another one of my 'quirky' ways...
Have slept under several blankets for years and would tell my x I would make the bed up for the weight-not the cold.
Hmmmm. TY for this post!

I seriously have a "blankee" and my boyfriend is fully aware of the issues that come if I cannot find blankee. Blankee goes on all overnight trips and returns from all overnight trips. Im also not going to say how old I am... nor have I ever admitted this publically! This post also explains why I need piles of blankets on top of me even when its a scorching summer.
