Weighted Blanket

I really want one but I'm way too poor. I actually found a tutorial online for one that you sew yourself, basically you just need two rectangles of fabric and you sew vertical channels into the middle and sew up along all the edges but the top. Then you fill each channel with like a fraction of the pellets (which you obviously have to buy), sew off the boxes for the bottom row and repeat. There is math involved and stuff but it seems like a cheaper alternative, especially if you can get the fabric cheap and have basic sewing skills. Maybe something to do in the future. For now I am settling for layers and layers of blankets.

@mudbug , you could just buy the weight you want in BBs or something and divide it into equal portions, so you don't have to do the math stuff. I have an emotional blockade against math and am pretty good at finding ways around it. A DIY weighted blanket seems like a pretty easy work-up as long as you have a sturdy fabric.

I also use the "stack-up-the-blankets" method. It's way cheaper, especially if you already have a few. I start out with plush sheets (which are really kind of blankets), a quilt, and a comforter. In the dead of winter, it's the plush sheets, the quilt, two thermal blankets and two comforters. It's a lot of weight.

Does this trigger anyone else? I mean it makes me feel like I'm being restrained all over again....
I love the weighted blanket because I control it. But there are tons of people out there that wouldn't be able to handle it. I didn't get mine at the maximum weight recommended because I figured 15 lbs on top of me would not feel good. I like mine just the way it is.
