What’s your favorite?

once had a chain saw injury. pretty slight, probably more from me pulling the saw off of the shredded leg of my jeans than from it spinning to a stop while wadding up the jeans, it was slowing to an idle and i was moving to the next cut and WAM, we were made one. didnt even need stitches.
the reason it is my favorite is because I was in emergency surgery within a week for something else and part of intake is disclosing all prior injury and i told them about “chain saw injury left thigh”.
All the young nurses reading my chart at the start of their shift just had to lift my covers and take a gander, I found humor in the look of disappointment on their young faces, and told myself it was the size if the injury that disappointed them so predictably.

favorite way you have ever found a great pet or other animal ( horse, chicken, whatever you grew fond of)?
 
Favourite book?
Easy- Catch 22 by Joseph Heller. I can kill fifteen minutes so easily in that book, I have had a copy under the seat of every car or truck I have ever owned, I was turned onto it at an early age and read it maybe five times straight through and probably a dozen times since, but most times I just grab it and read anywhere it falls open.
But you know what? I didn't get the PTSD angle until I knew what it was and shortly after started wondering about MY nightmares. Then years later, I was diagnosed and so many things rang true and Joe Heller got it so right, so did Hemingway and Vonnegut, my favorite books were ALL about PTSD.

Tortillas!!!

I love and adore tacos. Especially street tacos with slightly charred grilled white corn tortillas, cilantro/onion/lime/radish + protein. Steak, beer battered cod, spiced catfish, carnitas, octopus, shrimp, lobstah, mangos, ceviche, list goes on.

2nd fav way is probably as high fructose corn syrup? Hello, Coca Cola!!! Corn sugar? Is amaaaaazing stuff. I also use it when I’m sculpting cake decorations, gingerbread houses, etc.

3rd = Grits & Polenta

Then we’ve got a dead heat betwixt
- BBQ’d in the husk, Mexican Street Corn, Cornbread w/ honey, & kernels mixed with bacon & jalapeño to top… so many things… Pozole, creamed corn, popcorn, polenta bread. LMAO. Ja. Corn’s great stuff.

Handmaid quilt, one for each holiday.

@Sideways -I’ve actually had a Tim Tam. A student brought it to me, the one with caramel. It was good.
