I saw two animals I have never seen before, a pangolin and a cobra. The cobra was swimming across a stream with its head elevated and flared.

It is about noon here today and the highlight so far was watching a cheetah eating an impala. There is so much life here that seeing zebras, wilderbeasts, etc become common place and I find I often don’t even raise my binoculars. Giraffes and elephants seem less common. When we want to see a lion we usually do. I have only gotten a glance at a leopard so far.

While out walking my dog at night, we stumbled on three wild boars. They snorted in Fright and stampeded off. I was frightened they would see my dog and get aggressive.

I walked in on my shrimp committing an act of cannibalism

that is slightly embellished (at least for the imagination-) these guys don’t have the equipment to kill but glady eat anything dead including one another’s moults, and eachother. one of the adult males died of natural causes, there won’t be a trace in the morning o_O

otherwise they eat algae, biofilm and any dead bits of the plants, they’re often picking away, fun to watch.

I thought of keeping shrimp but got put off by the worry of runaway population growth. I decided to keep celestial pearl danios. To my surprise, they bred too!

I saw Meloe tuccius - the Common Oil Beetle. It's huge, the size of my thumb. Don't pick up this little monster! It squirts orange acid out of its knee and neck joints.
