I've searched for an existing thread about this but can't find one. Sorry if there's one and I've missed it.

I wondered if anyone wanted to share what they're reading at the moment (apart from book club books) and what they think of it - with spoiler warning if needed.

I'm reading Bill Bryson's A Short History of Private Life, well actually listening to it as an audiobook. It's quite readable/listenable but it feels like he's including pretty much any fact about anything that interests him which hasn't already gone into one of his other books, like scurvy and the Eifel Tower. Sometimes the link to the topic of private life (life at home) is pretty thin. It's also odd to hear him reading it, he has a really strange hybrid US/British accent!

I am reading Guilty as Sin by Tami Hoag. I am getting close to the end. It is about a child abduction and the child was returned home. They think they have the suspect, but the released him on bail. They have not gone to court yet. I think it is supposed to be suspense but it drags. The next book I will read is the girl with the dragon tattoo. Hope it is better than the movie. Thanks for this thread. It should be so helpful.

I'm currently reading James Patterson : Pop goes the weasel. It's about someone who has diplomatic immunity and has created a virtual game with 3 other persons aroud the world. The goal of the game is to kill someone. He's a real psychopath. At the same time, the hero (Alex Cross) takes his family and fiancée on vacation to the Bahama's. His fiancée gets kidnapped. I'm up to the part where it's been a year she is missing.

I have a hard time reading sometimes. But recently I read Frances Hogson Burnett. They are children books. The Secret Garden and The Little Princess. I love those Books. And I also read the last Harry Potter Book. I think I want to go the library soon and get a library card. I'm glad to read about what other people are reading to get ideas.

They know me well at the library, I'm there often and it's great having a card. Where I go for chemo there are lecture rats too so we exchange authors' names. I always have a book with me during my treatments.

I'm currently reading two books. First, "The Narcissism Epidemic" by Jean M. Twenge and W. Keith Campbell. And the other, "Talking Back to Facebook," by James P. Steyer.

I just finished the last 3 Jack Reacher books by Lee Child, which I had neglectfully not read for the past few years. Glad I did... good read and enjoyment.

What have I got on my shelf right now to read over the coming week???
  • What is PTSD - 3 Steps to Healing (some basic book someone wanted me to read for them)
  • Feeling Good - The New Mood Therapy
  • Thinking, Fast and Slow
  • Handbook of PTSD, Second Edition: Science and Practice (looking forward to this one. The only book you need to read to keep current with PTSD within a 5 year sphere).
  • The Body Keeps the Score (Van Der Kolks newest book on complex trauma).

I am reading books that I have just for fun and for relaxing. I am so glad I have my own library and have so many books I have gathered over the years.

The series of books written by Laura Ingalls Wilder. I am on the first book. I just love reading these books. They lift me up.
