What Baffles Your Brain Today?

Friday,

I grok these reasons, and it's reasonable (thankful for your approach and write up as well). I do *not* have any remotest issue with people protecting themselves and their children. What I have issue with is a fake sort of artificial paranoia culture seemingly going on in certain places, or taking weapons just for fun and show, which too many of reports like these indicate might have been going on.(Again: it's news, after all, which news do tell the whole story.) It's not the responsible people handling what they're equipped to handle I take issue with. It's teaching people weapons are the solution on their own that's my basic beef.

The topic is tad charged for me to make perhaps more explanatory reply I'm finding, there's difference of backgrounds going on hence also why I stated as non-American I'm not entitled to comment on these matters with the same weight as someone citizen of and/or living in the States currently, I basically wish for responsibility on these matters and teaching other forms of conflict resolution where earthly possible.

It's unfortunate it really is. It's reality though... well according to the media. I live in the sticks so I don't see much crime.
But I know a lot of people with guns. And with all the constant fear going on people have shit loads.
Maybe it was in order to get our populace armed for a potential terror threat... Idk.

But there was a massive gun & ammo surge. Hell if I had money I'd have an AR. For sure.
It would just collect dust though...

Kaishi, other forms of conflict solutions are a first option. Only the situation gets different when firearms ate freely availabke on the black market.
Once criminals are armed, people become a sitting duck.
A country like Switzerland where many carry a weapon and hardly a crime or accident with it, is rare.

Btw I do love the "grok". He is one of my favorites :)

It is a tragedy. The instructor shouldn't even have the title as instructor. And I'm sure that term has been given very loosely by the media. Obviously a lot of safeguards could have been taken. Too bad.

Most of us have in-depth intimate knowledge of firearms. Their capability. Enough said.

Americans are a gun owning culture. Until that right is removed it will continue to be. As a kid, it was fun to go plink cans with my dad and a .22 pistol. But I was taught safety. And like Friday mentioned in his training to his son, it became second nature in proper handling of all firearms.

I began teaching my kids the same when they were 4. All for the same goal Friday has achieved. Remove the curiosity. I know they will be around firearms. When they visit friends etc. I know they will go to places where some people do not have sense enough to own a firearm. This is my worry. They know how properly and safely deal with weapons.

LOL... No worries. Happens every so often. I think women made up like 4% of the USMC when I was in. More in the private game, but still not a lot. Better mistaken online than IRL!

Nothing worse than getting you ass handed to you by a woman. I met two Mossad agents in Nam in 70 in the NCO club, a guy and a gal. They were both very nice and friendly. The gal was very nice to look at for a young guy of 19, she was maybe 21 or so. But her eyes, I will never forget her eyes. I thought I was stone cold, but I would get goose bumps looking into her eyes.

After a day or two, she asked if I was any good with my Gerber Mk2 I had on my leg. I told her that I really did not like knife fighting, so I said I was fair, she thought for a minute and said, fair will get you dead. She asked if I would like to learn a few things. I said Yes, (remember I said she was good looking) How could I pass this up? Well we met the next day for her to give me some knife fighting training, no we did not use my Mk2, as I would get hurt if not dead.

This good looking gal handed me my ass for the next 3 hours!!! Over and over and over, she killed me 100's of times, in so many ways, sometime in less than 3 seconds......A few days later we were at it again, but I was now learning some things, one was not to be afraid when knife fighting. After 4 hours, I was starting to hold my own (I know she let me) but I was learning and still getting my ass kicked. A few weeks later we had our last training session, as her and her partner were going to places unknown. She worked my ass in to the ground, but I did learn a lot things, and I still thank her for it. When she left she told me, you now know how to fight with a knife, keep practicing. If you need it you will do just fine. I still don't like the idea of fighting with a knife, so I just don't think about it, I'll just do it........

Going into combat with woman that has been trained correctly? Yes I would, and never give it a thought.
