What did my therapist mean by this?

So today I was at counselling (at uni) and since we're finished next week she told me she would be open to seeing me over summer. So I thanked her and left when the session was over. However later I felt really down again and went to bathroom and cried, one of the assistant psychologists heard me and brought me in to talk, my own counsellor was available and so she spoke with me and calmed me down. Before I left, I just asked about when we're meeting over summer are Friday mornings possible, she said she doesn't usually see people on Fridays and that we'd talk about it next week. But what did she mean when she said we'll talk about it next week? Was she trying to get rid of me? Or was she being impatient? I just feel very paranoid about it and can't stop thinking about it...

I wouldn't read into it. She probably didn't have time to talk about it or wants to check her schedule or who knows. Don't guess if you can help it. Easier said than done, I know. You could send her an email and ask if it's really bothering you.

I'm going to make a leap here and suggest that there are no hidden messages. That when she said that you two would talk about the summer schedule next week? What she meant was that you two would talk about the summer schedule next week :)

I think she was likely thinking that it could be a more lengthy conversation than what was needed at that point. You were seeing her "out of session" - and probably wanted to stay on task for the purpose of why you were there.

Just from what you wrote - I don't see any ill intention there.

Thanks guys, what ye are saying makes sense, guess I just read too much into it, bad habit of mine :(

I do the same thing... a great therapist taught me to "check in with people"... like "What did you mean by that? I don't understand." Sounded like rocket science to me! Now I use it all the time.
