What Have You Accomplished Lately?

I've finally accomplished pride and satisfaction in a job....I work within an institution as a sole laundry person, for a meagre wage.

I spent time in an institution as a child. I remember seeing someone else wearing my clothes and much valued clothes being lost....personal belongings are so valued in an institution.

I now get to use my bad experiences and ' Change' my past.....I take pride in making sure that the residents clothes are freshly washed and ironed and given back on the same day.......I so understand their reactions when I hand over their little bundles at the end of the day....with a smile and an enthusiastic " thank you, illusionist".......it melts me every time. These are people whom many have suffered similar to the rest of us....but cannot live as freely as we can.

I feel privileged to provide a little something in their life....they will never know just how much they give back to me.

@illusionist Wow! That is an awesome viewpoint that allows healing. if you accept

I found my Jawbone (device for monitoring) and so far have walked over 1.2 miles!

I bought a pair of tenner shoes to replace the one lost in transit...then found the same pair for half the price on the net. So I got those and am returning the others.

I learned how to use an check app...lol. I had not taken pictures before of a check for a deposit. I didn't even know it existed!!! So slow am I. :) Changes can be fun.

I used the word "vet". In public. Out loud. Without stuttering. Or stopping mid-sentence. Or substituting another word after the V (vvvvvvvvvvv-prior service). Or changing the subject immediately after. Or puking.

Been trying for over a year, now.

LOL...Actually took me a few hours to realize I did it! Just slid naturally into conversation. OMFG. Did it! Ha. I'd do the happy dance, but I'm still a little too stunned. :)

Can I just say I love this thread? ^^^ Isn't big enough for the Accomplishments & Success Forum, but wow. This is a super small thing is the scheme of things, but I've still been working on it since Spring 2014.

I saw a sad thing today, earlier this year a pair of doves nested in the tree in the garden. Then today while getting into the car, I saw a small dead one laying on the ground in the corner of the fence, below the tree.

I stayed there for a smoke, and noticed that the other small one, flew down from the tree, walked over to the dead bird, and lay down beside it, then snuggled down.

The two larger doves kept coming down from the tree, making that "cooing noise" they make, and walked along the fence, looking down on the other one.

The small one wouldn't move away from the body, even when a car drove past, the larger two would fly back up the tree every time something passed.

I stayed there watching this for quite a while, and still the smaller dove wouldn't move away. It brought back a memory to me of the first time I visited my late wife's grave, I just didn't want to leave.

I never knew that birds had feelings of compassion like that, but I do now. It was like I said at the start, .........it was a sad thing.
