Nicolette,
As an ICU "resident" now for almost a "14 month rotation", I think I have at least an "honorary physician's assistant degree". And likely a few other specialty degrees as well. ;)
Also, as both a mechanical/electrical engineer with major health issues, I have had to deal with many heart issues - mostly iatrogenic in nature by "electrically misfiring doctors" (more commonly known as asses). ;)
So I really do feel for you, but at the same time feel reassured by what is being done for you and how it is being handled. Thorough and swift so you can get back to your life (and back to being a "heartless admin/mod" - just kidding!!! :)) You truly seem to be in great medical hands and with Anthony by your side - That is Fantastic!
However, if you ever get concerned about surgery, one of my major projects was designing the current heart catheter sterilization process. So trust me, heart surgery is not only more advanced but also much safer in recent years. You will face what lies ahead with your usual strength and determination. And if that is not enough comfort, I have all the "arrogant malpracticing doctors" here with me. ;)
All joking aside, I am sad that this is happening to you and Anthony (as well as all those who love you). And I truly am sorry that I am just reading this now, as my care transferred hands this week which resulted in my own heart needing to be "jump started", among other things. I am just grateful that you seem to be getting the attention and care that you need. And that you are facing it from a pragmatic perspective.
So, if you need anything at all, I am a caring and captive audience!!! Members supporting members on whatever journey!!! And you will be in my thoughts at least until they "dissect my brain", at which time I cannot guarantee much of anything. ;)
and for your heart.
Heal fast, but more importantly heal strong.
Alex
