I have listed a few things I can think of that people might like to do with our intended gathering to help determine a location.

If you choose other please post your ideas in the thread thanks.

Has any thought been given to have "group meetings" or some kind of mass gathering--maybe a luncheon or something. Of course, smaller groups are going to go off on their own as they hve here on the forum.

But a "1" time gathering of the entire group would be something I would like to try and attend

I didn't answer the holiday part. I know the Australians and English say "holiday" meaning vacation (trip away from home to relax), yes? In America a holiday is a day off from work (Christmas, Thanksgiving, whatever) but not necessarily a vacation.

I don't believe we need to begin getting technical with the sense of words on this. We all know what this is talking about, regardless the geographic location and word used, we all know this is a group holiday / vacation / party / gathering / whatever name you call it. Lets stick with the point please.

I wasn't sure whether you wanted the dates to coincide with a holiday--i.e. Christmas or a holiday weekend where everyone would have time off. I wasn't getting nitpicky, I honestly was confused.

I am good with whatever people wish to do. Islands would be a great get away. As well as Florida.

wikipedia ... has lots of info Daytona_Beach, Florida

Daytona Beach, FL has 23 miles of beach. Parts of which you can drive on. An LGPA Golf Course

There are plenty of hotels/motels...and for those wishing to rough it, there are state parks with camp grounds.

Daytona International Airport....as well as Daytona International Speedway.

Ormond Beach, which is the next town north of Daytona is the birth place of speed....where many cars first set land speed records.

For the those that bring along children.
Silver Springs...which has glass bottom boats...and nature tours.

We could get together for a large meet and greet...and then if people wanted to go off, they could go off.

Speaking of going off. I am not to sure about what it would take to be able to drive on the Islands...in the states if you have a license, in one state you are allowed to drive in other states.

food for thought

Just thought I would add. It seems everyone is concerned about costs. Someone suggested Florida and this may be a more economical option because there are more discount flights to major airports available. If you fly into a major airport, there is potential for saving quite a bit of money - especially when you are looking at international flights. I love to travel and just wanted to add this: Cruises offer outstanding value for your money right now. For example a seven day cruise could cost as little as $70 a day and that includes your room, all your meals (fabulous food!) and the amenities such as health club, pool, etc. This website gives you examples of inexpensive cruise packages: www.vacationstogo.com I don't know if this is a viable option but I thought I'd throw it out there. I'm excited. I would not miss this trip for the world no matter where you meet.

Sorry Gloria but I'm not going on a cruise unless you are willing to hold the bucket for me while I spew up........sorry.

You're not getting me on a boat unless you knock me out for the entire ride.

I can walk some, but I don't climb steps well. I can do it if someone (husband) helps me, but I usually use a wheelchair when traveling. My husband will come too, so he can do all the heavy lifting. I love beaches, snorkling and I have been on 7 cruises with various companies, so I can get us a group discount, military discount, senior discount, past customer discount.
I started a mostly liquid diet yesterday to lose 110 pounds (55 kilos) and we are going to Peru (Machu Picchu) in May so I am really hoping that I will lose enough weight tween now and May to boost endurance and be able to do at least some of the stairs myself.
No matter where we decide to go, we will have fun.
Are we going to do any group support or talk therapy there or address our PTSD at all, or are we just getting together to bond friendships and put faces with avatars?

Just wanted to add that I would prefer cooler climates (like the mountains). I know that this is something that most people will say 'let's go to the beach' for, but I thought I'd put it out there anyway, as I am not a beachy type of person.

Also, I said that I'd like it to be a holiday as well, but that doesn't mean to me that it should be a designated holiday place with resorts and things, it can also just mean a place that is beautiful.
