Why all the emdr and art bashing?

The problem was that the people posting were not people who experienced it.
Well, yes, it's the internet after all...

This forum is not anti-anything, except for blatant mis-information (which members tend to get into vigorous arguments over, so it generally won't go unchallenged and clarified).

We've got a decade's worth of threads, and while some things don't change much, others change a great deal. Peoples' perception of EMDR has evolved over that period, definitely. It's always worth looking at the dates on the thread.

If EMDR and/or ART have been really helpful for you, I'd say, go ahead and start a thread about it.

I've seen a good bit of EMDR bashing in places other than this site, also a lot of trauma sensitive yoga bashing. I can see how someone who is uninformed might just write the two off, but both are incredibly helpful things when they help. Yoga can be useful for mindfulness and grounding, help you be more in the present and in/aware of your body.

I've never heard of ART myself, until this thread - but personally, some of the weirdest shit has helped me. If it helps it doesnt matter how weird or useless something seems to outsiders who have never even done it or seriously looked into it - it's another tool to use to heal your shit. If you've got trauma to heal, dismissing treatment options with little consideration, isnt the wisest thing to do IMO.
