Because it's a reminder of what I'm capable of. I took this picture after a dangerous and exhausting tour in the Alpes. The little tiger is from my best friend who could not come with me. And since then, he's always in my backpack when I do tours - like a good luck charm. It's a good memory for me and since I want to try to be more positive, I thought I take this one.

But it can always change - according to my mood.

I was searching for a photo in my giant folder and found this one. It's a scene from the movie Ponyo. Ponyo is one of my favorite movies by Hayao Miyazaki. The artistic capability of himself and his crew is incredible. The movie was based on the Little Mermaid, just with a twist. The main character Ponyo, the weird fish-human in the photo, has such an appreciation for everything around her and she's so cute. She got really excited just about a piece of ham in her ramen. I want to get that fearlessness and wonder back, like she has!

Mine is a gnarled tree. Backpacking in alpine areas of the western US, I've come across many trees that have been smashed, torn, buried, frozen, burned, ripped, stomped, and used as a backscratcher by bears.

Yet they still live, they don't know how to quit.

After seeing hundreds of these, I began to feel inspired whenever I saw them.
