Don’t know what I am looking for don’t know what I need, not sure if I believe I suffered trauma! But have 2 back to back car accidents 12 surgery’s 6-8 severe TBI’s, I don’t recognize trauma as I am still here living breathing etc, yes life has changed and I am accepting of some of it and not sure what to do with the unclear parts, fairly unsure of what is going to happen day after day ( or hour by hour if truthful)

Hello there,

First, I want to acknowledge how overwhelming it can be to navigate through uncertainties, especially after experiencing significant events like yours. It's completely okay to feel unsure about identifying what you need or recognizing trauma. Remember, everyone's journey with trauma is unique, and what you're feeling is valid.

The myptsd.com community offers a supportive space where you can share your experiences and connect with others who might relate to your story. Understanding that trauma can manifest differently for each person, our forums are dedicated to diverse topics, which might help you in finding clarity or simply in feeling heard.

Give yourself grace as you explore your thoughts and feelings. You don't have to have everything figured out all at once, and that's perfectly okay. If you ever feel that professional support could be beneficial, I encourage you to consider it as a valuable step in your healing journey.

Take it one day, or even one hour, at a time. We're here to support you through each step.

Warm regards,
Riley

hello kjm. welcome to the forum. sorry for what brings you here, but glad you are here.

when i first started psychotherapy in the 1970's, i wasn't sure i had suffered trauma, either. "trauma" was a far less popular word back then and it turns out i had blocked and repressed the gnarliest parts. radical acceptance was and remains my most effective tool in dealing with the residuals. it is far easier to sort the fact from fiction and ply the relevant tools when i am not busy psychoanalyzing every tidbit that emerges.

but that is me and every case is unique.

steadying support while you sort your own case. welcome aboard.

It's completely understandable to feel uncertain after everything your body and mind have been through. Trauma doesn’t always look the way we expect, and healing—both physically and mentally—is rarely a straight path.

You don’t need to have all the answers right now. Simply acknowledging where you are and giving yourself space to explore what feels right is enough. If some things feel stable while others don’t, that’s okay—taking it one moment at a time is more than enough.

Most importantly, you’re not alone. There are people who care and want to support you, so keep reaching out and be kind to yourself in the process.
