Writing For Healing Prompts

Hope, I am with you. I wanted to get the first section done before I go on vacation. Silly me thought I would work on it there. Now I say, "hell no!" Step awaaay from the time bomb! Time away will be a good time to process before moving on.

oil pastels
Aren't they great? Have you tried the water soluble ones? You can blend with brushes. But if you do, work on watercolor or wet media paper. You can get kind of cool effects. The regular oil crayons can be blended with brushes too--I haven't done it for decades though...think I used some sort of clear oil. Also, if you like the dry pastel but not the mess, go to an art supply store and ask for blenders...they are these things that look like pencils but are really rolled up paper that works well and prevents your chalky fingers from smudging your work up with the wrong colors. They also have some more high-tech ones, but the paper ones are really cheap. (I have been working on uncovering my very blocked and wounded artist part, so have been experimenting with all sorts of media.)

I am delighted to hear that you are going on a vacation and are planning to take a break from the memoir writing. But if ideas come up, go with them! (I returned from a trip with dozens of things jotted on napkins and receipts and even the notes application on my phone!).

Have a peaceful time on your vacation!

@Hope4Now - I think it was fine. I like oil pastels but haven't tried the water soluble ones yet. I never really thought about art in a long time until I had art therapy this summer. My parts love to blend with fingers and the mess, it is me that has the problem so I just have lots of wet paper towels on hand! I don't have any at home, just drying out oil ones. I also like doing marker and colored pencils designs with my parts.
