isn't this an inherent contradiction? how can one be brutally honest without judging?? which way...

Dear Wtf: Hmmm. I believe one can offer honesty without judgement. To me, judgement means blame and criticism. I believe some people are able to listen with open minds, understanding, and compassion. Wtf, you seem to be asking for a nonjudgmental sounding board first - a place to be heard and not shamed. I can do that. I hope you feel safe to express what's on your mind. If there are some who do not understand, they do not have to respond. You may be able to find a kindred spirit here - and the understanding and support you seek.

Judgement to me means... is what I'm doing in this situation helpful or not (that's passing judgment) being brutally honest is synonymous with passing judgment. If I'm going to be brutally honest with you I'm going to pass my judgment on what you're doing and whether or not I think it's helpful for you. If I'm just going to listen and be a soft shoulder to cry on that's fine but then I'm not being brutally honest.
