Zoloft And Pain Medication

I have chronic pain and at times it is worse than others. What I have noticed is that none of my pain medication is working now that I am on Zoloft. Does anyone have any ideas on why this may be. Also any ideas of what might help major pain whilst on an SSRI would be greatly appreciated.

You seriously need to talk with your psychiatrist about that... as many medications have side effects and drug interactions, so one's recommendation here could kill you.

Medication often stops working / ceasing being effective when mixed with another... this is where all the problems often begin with medications. You really have to come to terms that this is going to be a matter of trial and error for you in consultation with your psychiatrist, or even GP should be able to assist... I would first talk with your pharmacists for expert advice, as they know more about drugs than your psychiatrist or GP.

I have an appointment on the 16th with my psychiatrist to address this. He at first told me there is no issue taking them together but to my surprise my pain medication is no longer effective.

Together we need to find a better solution.

As stated... even before you get to you doc... speak with your pharmacist, as they know things about medications doctors don't... they are the specialists after all for medication, so you can often find things to show your doc that your pharmacist outlined... which may help them find a better solution. It may simply be... try different meds.
