Doing Emdr Alone With An App?

Was looking in Google play to see if there was an app version of this forum and see a couple EMDR apps to do the therapy by yourself. Is that a good idea? I'm kinda skeptical of the idea of EMDR to begin with, but should you be doing it alone?

It would be worth having a look around the forum re EMDR, it can be potentially powerful stuff and I wouldn't consider doing it alone because I would need someone to make sure I was ok, not flooded or dissociated and to help ground me if need be.

Ehhhh------No.

Irresponsible app'ing on the part of developers.

Trauma processing can't be done in isolation or with a "machine". It sort of side-skirts the whole point-----processing! That is the key part of processing is doing it with a trained professional who can guide you through the process. It's highly individual and artificial intelligence won't be to the point of being a surrogate therapist for quite some time.

Just remember----there aren't any shortcuts to healing, and there are many bad apps out there.

If you search for EMDR in the forums you'll find some very good information based on individual experience, that along with full discussion with your therapist should help you figure out if it's for you, or might be for you further along the line.

My skepticism stems mainly from how I got my ptsd. Not sure there are enough traumatic events that stand out from the rest for me to use. I think I gravitate to c-ptsd because of the prolonged kind of traumas that I was stuck with in my living environment. There are a few exceptionally bad moments, so I'll consider it.
