I'm so sorry this is happening to you, innocent one. I can feel your pain and it hurts me too, to know you are going through all this and you are suffering. I don't want to see you go to Jail again. I wish I could be there to give you a hug (if you wanted to be hugged, that is). This is so awful what they have done to you and what may happen. But please don't give up. Call that Public Defender back when they told you to, and try your hardest to be polite to the Judge. Say, "Yes, Your Honor," and "No, Your Honor." Treat the Judge with the utmost of courtesy. Your life may depend upon it.
I know this will be very hard for you, being in court. It will especially be difficult, because when the newspapers have been involved and everyone in town knows about it, some of them will show up in court and gawk at you. Some may even jeer or make rude noises during your testimony. Try not to pay them any attention. Be polite to the prosecutor and answer any questions given to you in as short and simple, but pleasant answers as you can. Long drawn out answers can confuse those who need to decide in your favor, so the simpler the answers you give, the better chances of your being understood and believed.
Do bring with you any evidence of your being a vulnerable adult. If you can have your case worker present as a witness, even better! Bring a copy of the email that the police officer sent to you. If you don't have a printer, go to the Library, Log onto your email account there, and copy it there at the Library. Bring any other evidence that you have against this man also. Show these things to your lawyer too.
Does that all make sense to you?
