Also, companies that want to boycott Ingraham over her comment, that is wrong. Try boycotting in the name of real tragedies. Making fun of a big-mouthed kid ain't a tragedy.

@hodge, I am not bothered by disagreement because everyone was against me over ptsd thing and I had to develop a thick skin and gain internal confidence to find myself, and don't see disagreement as necessarily a bad, "ugly" thing as long as it doesn't turn personal and include accusations that are not merited by actual behavior.

As for close proximity to life endangering situation, I'm not really sure how traumatic such things might be. I think it depends a lot on the exact cicrcumstancrs and the individual. I know when I was a kid, two neighbor kids were playing with a loaded gun and one shot and killed the other. Our house was also a very short distance from a devastating tornado. These things weren't traumatic for me at all, maybe because I was close to them but not actually there. It might be that David Hogg was more traumatized than I realize, but I also think it would be helpful to hear more from those who were more in the line of fire. On the Parkland shooting there were tons of kids there, but we tend to hear the opinions of a few over and over.

I'm not exactly sure of facts on this, but I think Hogg wants Ingraham to sort of entirely denounce Fox News for their treatment of "children" or something and then maybe he'll forgive her for slighting him, which means she can definitely keep her job.

Everything about this bothers me, I don't think anyone who is a senior in high school thinks of themselves as a "child," Hogg using this terminology is him being a sophisticated media operator who not only wants to punish someone who was a mild detractor, but also an attempt to shut down all opposition from an entire network.

I feel like Hogg's behavior starts to bring up first amendment issues. Fox is the only major tv outlet that is to the right of the beliefs of the general population. You give Hogg what he wants and maybe you start to remove reasonable debate and maybe even limit freedom of speech to those who oppose David Hogg

@Fadeaway: "If you mean the Mormon agenda, than sure."

You can say "Morman Agenda" and it's somehow not hate speech, because Mormons tend to be opponents of liberalism. If you replace "Mormon" with an ally or protectorate of liberalism and it somehow gets closer to hate speech. That's why Fox News is so important, if there is no opposition to desires of one side then it gets close to thought crime territory.

@Endofwar and @cactus_jack, I cannot put myself in the position of anyone who's had to deal with a mass shooting. We are all different and have different levels of ability to deal with bad shit. No one deserves to be beaten on for not being able to deal with something like that.

The closest I've come to death was when my former boyfriend climbed up to my bedroom window one night with a knife. Thankfully, I wasn't asleep yet and heard him, got my family downstairs and called the police. So, it was okay in the end, but I still have nightmares, and sometimes I act out in them, like kicking my husband or our cats inadvertantly in my sleep. I would think that people with PTSD would be the last to judge others.

Aside from the gun issue, protest's etc. This is a thread about US politics. May I vary the subject matter? It isn't that I think the gun issue in the US is unimportant. It is. But there are other things happening in the USA political scene too.

I'd like to know what members think about these things:-

- US Tariffs on imports? If it does start a 'Trade War' particularly with China's retaliation and tensions from the EU...will this kick off another financial crisis?

- Will the 'Wall' really ever get built and which design do any of you think will win the contract or can you suggest another design?

- Are the new tax rates in the USA going to revive the economy in a sustained way?

I'm interested in these things too. Anyone?

Well, speaking as someone from farm country....

Farm income has been down for the past several years. If your only connection to farm prices is through the grocery store, they might come as a surprise. People are borrowing money to stay in business, or they're getting out. The average age of a U.S.farmer is right up there close to retirement age. Lucky for the general public a lot of them dint want to retire. So, a serious cut in farm exports is going to be a serious problem around here.

I hope it's not built, it's a mind blowingly stupid idea. What about water flowing across the border? What about wildlife? What about land ownership that crosses the border? The whole idea spends a huge amount of money to solve what's pretty much a non-problem. How much education could we fund for the price of that wall?
