Blindsided with fast turn around

So Friday was the deadline for a job that I applied for as I am working to separate from my current employer. Well this morning completely out of the blue and without any advance notice the recruiter called me this morning. This is good news yes but I am really hoping that I didn't blow the impromptu phone interview because the recruiter is saying that they are planning to move fast. Meaning I could potentially have an interview soon and have a new job before my son's graduation.

But then I remember nothing in my life ever works out like that. It is so hard to believe something positive could finally happen.

I hope it goes well for you :) it is strange to get surprised by things that are good, especially if things are moving too fast. But having people take interest in your applications is a good thing at least.

It just really threw me to the point I started having a panic attack in the middle, played it off as I have a cold that was making it hard for me to breath which was why I was talking so fast and breathy but still even 30 min of advance notice and I could have prepared for the call.

Thanks @somerandomguy I could use the luck. The hardest part and what caused things to go down hill was I had to be honest about my current situation. He asked if I was on a leave or working as he had heard something about that, Really could have used time to figure out how best to answer that so I stuck with minimal truth, I am on leave (didn't say what kind) and that the employer and I are currently pursuing a separation agreement.

Honestly I think I could be waiting for a call all day and not come up with anything better than what you said.

To me, it sounds like you handled it really, really well in a not-so-ideal situation.
