We put her down today at about 4:45 p.m. I bawled beforehand and a little while she was there. My cat had fatty liver and she was 2 1/2 years old was all. She was a rescue and the woman that found her said she found he hiding somewhere with a 2 inch cut on her back. Looking closer, she said she could see her vertebra. She hated other cats.. Even kittens. She was a Hemingway ?.. The woman put her on Craigslist and I was scrolling thru one day and saw a beautiful cat. I fell in love with her eyes and face. She was a very pretty cat. I don't know if cats attacked her but the vet said her tail had been broken twice and there was a pellet in her side ( or leg) so she was either ran over ( or something) but defineatly shot with a pellet gun. Love a first site for me.One of the things I didn't fully understand, before working at the vet clinic is how deeply involved in euthanasia and the process I would be. I mean, that's part of why I didn't go into that field when I was younger was because I didn't think I could handle it. But I was just thinking about the pets dying. I wasn't thinking about watching pets age and come closer to that time and talking with owners and dealing with their grief
I think she was PTSD. She didn't like to play much but loved when we put her on the middle of the couch ( between us) and she part of. She loved to be loved in but never really, truly responded.. She just loved whatever your hand was doing/petting.
The vet ( her back) called the back problem - hypertashia,( SP) or something to that effect. Her back was not to be touched. She had a rough coat but she was very beatiful cat.
When she passed, she got a prick of a needle in a vein and she was gone seconds later. The vet said, all vets do it differently but she preferred fast because she didnt believe in all the proceedures that some vets do. She said it just prolonged things. I'm sure you knew what she was talking about.
Anyway, thanks for everyone's support!! ???????
Edit: we forced-fed her through a tube from her stomach, coming out of her neck for a month. She didn't eat on her own and had anerexia. That was the reason for the feeding tube.
