i usually just have mild symptoms but for a little over week been getting extreme shit every day and idk how to f*cking deal with it.. like i've been extremely anxious for the last 3 days straight, like really anxious and it litterally never stops. i've tried everything to stop it, from grounding meditations, distractions, breathing exercises, exc.. nothing works and this shit is soo uncomfortable idk what to f*cking do. so sick of it. i just wish it could just stop already.

ik y'all are more 'experienced' and had to figure shit out at some point to be able to semi function in your life, so if someone could please give me some tips & tricks, seriously can't take it anymore...

Hi @angelxbaby, alot of people that suffer from extreme anxiety take medication for it, including myself. Have you spoken to a docter about it? If your really suffering then I would suggest it.

not really no, and idk if that's something i could really do soon anyways bc of a few stuff

anyways like ik meds are an obvious solution but what i'm asking is more like what can i do rn like today to be able to deal with it better. like little hacks you use maybe, like to calm yourself down that you know works well? that type of stuff

Some other people on here might be able to offer solutions and links to stuff but I don't know very much about grounding techniques so my advice is very limited, sorry. If you youtube anxiety or grounding techniques then you might find some good videos to watch about dealing with anxiety. Best of luck to you. S3 😊

Hello friend,
So sorry to hear of your anxiety that has increased to extreme and constant. Anxiety sucks and can be debilitating. I know. I've been 100% Disabled by it myself for 3 years. It sucks.

Like others have mentioned, there are some meds that help some people. There are some grounding techniques that can lower stress, but often just aren't enough for really extreme anxiety.

The basic principle of grounding techniques is distraction. Touch things around you. Note their temperature and texture. Lightly snap a rubber band on your wrist. Smell a flower, perfume, cup of coffee, etc. Look at your surroundings. Note colors, textures, features you haven't noted before. Listen to soothing music.

The idea is that your mind can only focus on one thing at a time. So if you purposefully focus it on other things, you will perceive your anxiety less.

Sometimes, if your anxiety is too extreme, it's very hard to decrease it. Medication and rest are sometimes an option we have to face even though we'd rather not.

You will find help in something. Hang in there!

I have found counting backwards from 100 by 7s extremely helpful. Pick a category, like fruit and name all fruits that start with "b" you can use this for pretty much any catagory. Spelling the names of everyone you know both forwards and backwards. Visualization can also be helpful as it requires a lot of focus. Deep breathing is also one I really like, breath in for count of 5, hold for count of 5, breath out for count of 5. I find this helps with shaking and racing heart and is actually quite calming. It took me a few tries but I did find a good therapist and find talking to be helpful also. The key to using these is to also practice on good days, you will have them again, so on bad days you will automatically turn to them. I hope this helps and that you feel better soon.

I suffer from very extreme anxiety, have tried all sorts of things, I am currently taking some herbs which are helping a lot: vervain, passiflora and skullcap are my favourites. I make up a big pot and they seem to support my body and mind in calming down, they also don't have any side effects and you can pretty much drink them quite a lot all day (they are bitter though - add honey). Another thing I try is alternate nostril breathing and pursed lips breathing - these help, I try to do them a couple of times a day and then when i get anxious if i can (sometimes i just cant). Sometimes i ask people for help if i have the capacity to... just a hug can sometimes help my body calm down a bit, or leave a voice message to someone saying how i feel, or call someone, or even just try to name emotions myself (panic, overwhelm, grief, terror, fear, loneliness are common ones - it can be helpful to work which neural brain circuit your anxiety is running on - generally it will be on the panis/grief circuit or the fear circuit, so you could ask yourself... am i scared/terrified? or am i lonely/sad?). And sometimes i stay very very very still or lie on the ground or something and just wait. Anxiety Is shit. I'm hoping you find things that help you - it seems to be very different for everyone. 💛

I learned to manage my day by putting in self care routines and habits. It gave me less time to be in my head and more time to be looking at external issues. It also gave me more self confidence that I could control my state and be successful at directing my life again. I was very careful to weigh issues that led down the road to anxiety and rework those things. For instance, if I was running low on gas I would spin in anxiety. There was an easy work around and that was to fill the tank every time it got to 1/2 full. Anything that I realized I was stressing about (because it is cumulative and I wanted to get my baseline down) I would rework it so the stress would be taken out of the issue. However that needed to happen. I refused to allow unnecessary stress and that way when real stress hit I could tolerate it better.
