I think it more likely that she wanted to appear more knowledgable than she actually was.
Entirely possible; and always a possibility, when in an educational environment.

A tool that you may find useful in the future - when you know the topic could veer into sexual trauma, try framing your questions with "Without going into specifics, can you clarify [the issue you have a question on]". it lets you be clear about what you want - states the boundary within the context of the lecturer/listener relationship.
The above would have sufficiently answered my question in the context that it was asked in and the detail ofbwhat a child might go through if they were groomed doesnt add anything useful to it.
It also gives you a clear ability to cut the person off, if they shift into detail.
