I've had to hire a lawyer to deal with my claim for disability. After research and meeting a couple I finally decided on one that I felt comfortable with. They are in the process of gathering all of the pertinent documentation but still have the information submitted to support my claim as well as a report from my psychologist. The report is four pages long and among other information includes that I suffer from poor concentration, recollection and dissociative amnesia.
I sent an email a couple of months back with some follow up questions that I had for my lawyer, following our initial meeting (I had signed the retainer agreement at that point). I never received a response and after a week forwarded the email to the partner of the firm as I had pressing questions concerning the confidentiality of my medical records.
Long story short, my lawyers legal assistant sent an email (with everyone under the sun cc'ed) indicating that she had responded on such and such a date. I thanked her and informed her it must of been directed to my spam. She clarified again and said no, she had personally spoken to me. Back and forth ensues, with my anxiety escalating at the fact that I had absolutely NO recollection of the conversation she said we had. I end up calling her, and she insists that yes she spoke to me personally and has a note on file. I tell her theres no record in my phone and ended up crying on the phone because I was convinced that it was evidence of DID.
Today I checked the hard bill - the one that records all the incoming and outgoing calls. So no matter if I did somehow delete it from my phone it would of still been on the paper bill. No record of her ever calling . She probably forgot to follow up with me and since I had forwarded the email to the partner, lied to cover her butt. Humiliating me (based on how many peopled were included in the emails) and causing me significant distress.
I know I have to deal with this but right now I just can't believe that someone would do that when they know I'm off dealing with significant mental health issues.
Ugh. People really suck sometimes.
