Because of PTSD and social phobia, I isolated myself and always felt overwhelmed in a crowd of more than 4 or 5 people, but recently, I managed to visit a place with well over *200 people! I have done this several times without any panic or anxiety attacks whatsoever. *(and I did not have to sit near the exit).
I also have travel anxiety, which is to say that I am frightened out of my mind about automobile accidents and would not ride in a car over a few miles at a time. However, once again I have overcome my anxiety and logged in over 120 miles in the past couple of days.
These may seem like minor accomplishments to some people, but for those of us with PTSD and social phobia, it means there is hope of recovery / healing and for that reason, I wanted to share my success.
I used to suffer with low self-esteem and have major panic attacks whenever I would enter a new place or meet new people, but no more. I am relaxed and comfortable with myself and for me, this represents many years of intense therapy work. I am grateful for and proud of my accomplishments and want to encourage others to stay on a healing path and not lose hope!!!
