Please do tell about the black panthers! I would like to know where this information is coming fro...

The things I have read about the black panthers from over the pond have been mostly positive also.
The black rights movement was a very important time for America in general.

Malcom x was a charismatic and incredibly inspirational man who I admire, and i believe Tupacs aunt who is now in exile in Cuba was an important figure within the movement also.
I agree with you @EveHarrington, a very misunderstood group.
But that's racism for you.

All the choice I need.

Other levels? I'll deal with it, short term & long term, if I do right by my heart and those I care for, first.

It doesn't limit me. Expressions of me, maybe. But what I do & who I am & how I feel aren't the same thing.

I feel ashamed, though it was WAY WAY before my time, that my brother got married (we learned after they reserved it) in an old train station in TN that has been turned into more of a local historical place that our great great great grand father owned and passed it down to his son (my uncle traced my dad's side into the lower 1600s) and they ran slaves off of it. :(

To even known my family back then owned slaves is shameful to me!

Slavery is so horrific! And even in more recent times, restrooms and then "colored restrooms". :mad:

Big coprations though, not that we can control it other than like the whisler blower law but big business trample over people all the time. Many have posted here and it makes me upset how they can do that just because they think they can.

I wasn't implying that you are racist Lost, just that the culture of that time in America tended to vilify African Americans trying to get their voices heard (the majority of Americans I know certainly are not racist today, much less so than many Aussies lol)

As threatening people at polling locations would, I suppose. be a violation of federal law, if they WERE at polling locations?
It might have been to individually witness and document anyone being turned away from voting for flimsy reasons, or, if trained, to offer legal assistance.
As far as I know various parts of the political spectrum are now doing this.

TBH, since no paper hardcopy of votes are ever printed and signed off on to verify, you have to rely on the veracity of the voting machines in use:

So I do vote defensively, but I don't think that counts as actual empowerment, nor is it that mythical consent of the governed s...tuff...

Yes, the last one is Fox News but what I was wanting to see was the video on the right.

There were way more sites if anyone wants to see them, go to google and type in Black Panthers voting intimidation and it is illegal but some how they were allowed? Holding a door for a lady is not why they were there and if I were going to that voting place, I would be very intimidated to vote for Obama.

Politics is not your everyday life and personal interactions (regardless of what the lamestream would have you believe).

There's a life long personal project out there to be the best version of you that you are able and to find others with similar aspirations.

what politics is in two lines;
It is the means by which the politically most powerful in society abuse and take from the politically less powerful, and the politically more powerful claim to do it "legally".

Admittedly, I have one helluva time getting videos to play, currently...but it appears the two NBPP guys were at one polling place and no voter was actually found to be intimidated, according to the justice department investigation.
The New Black Panther Party political theater attempt was a fail. I know that those guys, were they outside a polling place i went to? would just make me decide the NBPP was a bunch of clowns.

@Stickler ah i dont know, I see it both ways.

For me, being of a that was the first time an Afraican American could have been voted in for President (im rough on my American history but I know he is out first African American President, all I care about is how they run our country, not the color of their skin) and maybe its the PTSD & BPD, i dont know but if I had to go there to vote (which you have no choice on) and if I were to see them there, I would be intemidated. But again, that might just be me.

I admit I dont know much about them, I just remember this but this discussion has inspired me to go research anout them! ;)

To not derail the post, do we have a choice in reality? I think we do as there are many MANY rights!

Most just dont enforce them and now we have the whisper blower law for big business.
