Fascinating insights all.
I don't think Mr. Trump is a dummy. But as to how he got where he's at..... I.M.O...... (sorry for the long read)
Lets take any competitive sporting tournament. Or political arena. In a bracket, half the teams win, half lose and are eliminated. This continues until you have a "winner". Whether you start with 8 teams, 64, or even 340,000,000 voters - as in America. Eventually you elect a "president", i.e. winner. Our current president here in America has a particular skill set that seems to benefit him. My opinion and that of many others including his family members is that he is a consummate malignant narcissist of the worst degree. A human devoid of any sense compassion or feeling for anything except his own ego.
It was this type of malignant narcissist that I watched fire over 6,000 employees, oversee workplace fatalities, suicides, injuries, and my own PTSD for 18 years. A malignant narcissism coupled with 24/7 vigilance and acute alpha skills. If you were even the fourth cousin twice removed of someone that criticized him, you would be terminated for leaving a water bottle on a break table or parking your car on a stripe in the parking lot. It was scorched earth loyalty to him at all costs until you were of no use and you would be discarded like garbage. Surrounded by people who will laugh at his insults and degradations and sick jokes, and compliment him and soothe his ego.
As with our current U.S. president. Business skills, alpha skills, money, right place right time, all combined to propel him to be the last one in the bracket that hasn't lost. And here we are.
I feel that most of you out there, and probably 70% or so in America now, see the scope of the problem. He was not honest. He was not a good choice. Neither were the others.
He's moving faster that we can think. Everything is a constant FLASH BANG, PTSD inducing moment that wears out the senses and gives him tactical advantages. It works to his favor. Very few see how insidious this is. Or how bad it will get, or how dangerous this is. Even if he doesn't understand the dynamics of it, he knows what works for him.
We've kidnapped foreign leaders, invaded and bombed foreign countries, murdered our own citizens and branded them traitors, embargoed and are starving Cuba as a precursor to another invasion. Greenland may follow. Spain and Ireland are incurring his wrath. Shall we invade them next? A well placed bomb might convince them we mean business. And every bit of this serves to embolden him and appease his need for grandiosity and grandstanding in front of others. And that need is insatiable. That is a consummate malignant narcissist. Blame someone else. Light a fire somewhere else and off to save the world from that one. Ignite. Repeat. Ignite. Repeat.
It's hard to actually comprehend the term "malignant narcissist" or the human being because we all have sensitivities that tell us this level of sickness really can't be real and we really can't be seeing what we're actually seeing. I went through that for most of 18 years. The only one and last to survive in my work environment. I could not grasp the reality of the reality around me. Is that part of PTSD?
But it is exactly these behaviors that damaged me. And I can't help thinking that others worldwide are and will be damaged.
It has been 10 years since I left that environment. Watching another malignant narcissist take control of events that affect my life and will affect everyone is triggering and retraumatizing. If nobody reads this I'm good with that but I am so grateful for having a place to post and air my worries.
I do agree Anthony that corporate influence and campaign contributions are a great source of political corruption. They have contributed to our current problem.
I do need to redirect and find positive avenues.
