Debate is needed more now than ever but every time a debate breaks out on a public forum personal attack is not far behind, and after that debate crumbles into uselessness.

I like your post and agree. I have learned that online and in speaking with someone about politics news religion etc is a trigger for horrible arguments disrespect stress mire trauma etc..I am not sure what to do about this but as a society and as human beings this historical moment cannot consume us. We have lives to live goals to achieve.

I think we can keep it under control... I think its healthy for PTSD sufferers, and for those who can get past name calling and petty BS, it can really benefit recovery, as it teaches sufferers self control, which is the exact same self control required for healing.

Yes. Agree with this. I am learning to regulate my news exposure and have tougher boundaries. Many things about this political situatio. are out of our control yet we seem to be willing to name call bully not be aware of cognitive distortions destroy relationships. This crisis is an opportunity for us to work on. Ourselves.

I protested during the covid bs. Some of you will gasp and most likely tune out. If possible, hear me out. I protested for some time. I was fighting for my children and my grandchildren. I never ONCE - blocked police, kicked their cars, shouted obscentities to the apparently 'opposing' sides who would hiss at us, spit at us, and tell us that they wanted our entire families to die - and those were the nicer things they did and said. I was part of the trucker protest in Ottawa. The protesters were kneeling and the police were beating the shit out of them, the finance minister was stealing money from their bank accounts, and the prime minister was calling us all nazi's.

Really? Now these protestors. Blocking streeets, attacking people they think are ICE officers, kicking cars and openly defying authority of the federal government.

'Splain please. What gives you protestors the right to do that? What is with the violence?

There are non violent ways to stand up against this. Contact senators congressman members. Where you spend money counts. Set boundaries .

I’m curious, if people feel like sharing, where they get their information from and why they feel it is a source worth listening to. Idk which news to pay attention to there are so many and so biased. One person told me epoch times but then I learned that is a kind of propaganda. Idk how to tell the difference. Someone once shared a site that collates all the news and gives little codes showing the bias but I lost it.

Once source is ground.news. It explains news as either having a left right centrist bias. Less use of inflammatory language which can cause a fight flight fear fawn reaction therefore the use of the prefrontal cortex can remain and critical thinking skills can be accessed.

Because the state was not supportive in this endeavour. Just look at all the inflammatory speeches by the mayor and governor to see that. On top of that having protestors block in ICE agents to block them in, kicking cars, standing in front of police and other cars, etc - that isn't on ICE.

I watched the capital police flipping open the doors for the people so they could come in. They were being given guided tours ffs. The drama caused by these media outlets is out of this world.

Plus the whole Haitian's eating pets was all mainstream media drama as well.

Although oddly things in Washington have gotten 1000T times better once he cleared the streets of these criminals on the streets.

Being a Canadian and living in the USA 1/2 of the year, I am going to tell you, Canada has a 100 x worse for violence, migrant replacement, and a political structure that obviously has not got the best interests of the populace in their policies. The USA is a joy to come to in comparison.

How do you determine credibility of evidence?

I don’t agree about the paid protesters but everything that first guy (stompnworld) says about Iran I agree 100%. It’s a very strange thing. Trump is a god-send to the people who have been waiting for almost 50 years for the west to intervene in the Islamic regime. Iran is like a David Koresh cult over the whole country. No other Muslim nation has clerics ruling it other than Afghanistan. The Iranian people are taught “death to America” but they LOVE America and saw hope here for a long time, a path to escape. The conservative Muslims are a small minority who support the regime—the majority are atheist. That’s what happens when ideology is front and center and shoved down your throat—people hate it.

American ideology is hidden and sneaky. Iran has killed tens of thousands of its own people since the regime started in 1979. Nearly 50,000 people die by suicide in America EVERY YEAR. Americans are drowning in ideology but can’t see it or name it so there is nothing to push back against except ourselves.

I don't think its just about Iran being bad, its about Iran supplying oil to China, and the US are now blocking that, thus squeezing China. Its a classic distraction, look over here and the bright and shiny things, whilst some of the real stuff happens over there.

The constant distractions the chaos this or that is imminent etc takes away time effort focus to work on ourselves. Not to mention the anger the arguing the US vs them. We only have so much time given to us. I have had to take a has look at myself to understand why I got sacked into this giving time and energy to things I do not control. Decent dialigue with no judgment is important when discussing current events but we seen to have lost this as a nation.
