It is almost like reacting to a child melting down... not to say my sufferer is acting like a child. What else is a tantrum or meltdown except for a reaction to emotions that a child cannot process? Just think of it as bigger badder emotions in a bigger badder person with much much less control over the situation.
I have to be perfectly calm, because if he perceives anything he thinks is "butthurt" or "crazy emotional woman", he's going to pounce on it. If I try to comfort he gets pissed because I'm "placating him like a child."
I need to take up poker now, surely. I bet I have a killer poker face now.
