A Smile...What Makes It For You?

I thought this thread needed to be remembered cause when I need a smile I think of it and the beautiful things that are shared here.

Things that make me smile:

~My adorable four legged best friend, a wire-haired Jack Russell just over a year old named Logan. Sometimes I smile just watching him sleep, sometimes he jumps all over me in a playful fashion and forces me to laugh. He also does drive-by toe lickings, lol. He's very funny and out right handsome.

~A walk in the park or on the beach with Logan on a beautiful day.

~Looking up at white clouds against a bright blue sky and realizing how beautiful the natural world is and how blessed I am to be alive and gaze upon it's glory.

~Blueberries, strawberries, and bananas together in a bowl is a bowlful of smiles.

~My favorite sitcoms (American) like The Office, 30 Rock and I love the Simpsons.

~A good gripe session with one of my dear friends on Instant Messenger. He always makes me laugh and all we do is complain but it's so funny.

~"Moons Over My Hammy" - Here's an idea that you may all benefit from. Sitting with my mother and sister a few years ago for lunch outside a restaurant on a beautiful day, my mother brings up the topic of smiling and how healing it is. She said that everyone has one thing that when said makes them laugh. It could be one word you find funny or a phrase or joke. We thought about it and it didn't take me long. The one thing that makes me laugh at any moment is from Denny's restaurant menu. A breakfast item called "Moons Over My Hammy" I'm laughing right now, lol. It's a play on words from a song called "Moon Over Miami" It's just so silly! I laugh everytime. So then when I would get mad about something or we'd have a fight my mom would smile and shout out "Moons over My Hammy" and I'd bust out laughing. So find out what your's is and tell it to your friends and family. You may find yourself busting a gut just thinking of it yourself.

Mutts Comics are great for any pet lover! I used to have a female Jack Russell who become best friends with a cat I adopted. Everytime I read them I think of Emily and Josta :-) In the comics it's Earl (a JRT) and Mooch (a tuxido cat like my Josta). They are a funny pair and many procedes go to animal shelters and the like. Highly recommend all their books!

I can see this thread going on forever...its a question that almost never ends. It's such a deep question and there be can a different answer every day or two. Maybe?

Anyway, one thing that makes me have that "giddy smiling, nothing bad has ever happened to me" feeling is hugs. They have to be from certain people because I have a big issue with my personal space especially with men. But there's a couple people who are good friends of mine who I love to get hugs from. And I don't mean just a pat on a back or a quick hug. I'm talking about the ones where they wrap their arms all the way around you and squeeze you. Lasts a minute or two. You know! The hugs that make you feel like they just squeezed the tension right out of you!

Those really make me feel ten times better... as long as they are from the right people. Otherwise, I just scares me more. I got one from a friend of mine the other day. I was very upset and work and I talked to her and she gave me the best hug. For half a minute, nothing was wrong. Nothing was fixed, the situation I was upset about was still the same but I felt better.

A co-worker of mine got a card from her husband. Just a random "I love you" card. Was adorable! 35 years of marriage and still madly inlove and flirting. They walk hand in hand everywhere. They started dating each other when they were 14! It's too cute!! Anyway, the card was just to say that he loves her and on the back it read:

"Arms are 95% happier with someone in them"

Yesterday I opened a bottle of carbonated flavored water and it bubbled up and over flowed all over. I used to drink these all the time, but haven't enjoyed one for months, so why did that make me smile? It instantly brought back fond memories of a friend that seems to have a love hate relationship with these bottles. Sometimes a smile comes from the most unexpected places!
