I have a ring that I've left in I don't know how many places when I wash my hands. I can't wash my hands with a ring on ...ewwww... and when I've tried to put it somewhere safe like in my purse when I take it off, then I forget and it falls out onto the ground next time I use my purse.
Amazingly, I've always found it when I've gone back, even when it was on the floor of a tube station concourse, and when I left it in the loos at a busy hotel. Many's the bottle of wine I've taken with me to thank the kind person who rescued and returned it.
It's engraved with something inside, which makes it easier to identify and I think makes people want to reunite me with it. Really, it would be a lot easier if I added my mobile phone number to the engraving.
