During the past few years since starting this thread, my attraction to horror movies has totally waned. Although I do still like an occasional psychological thriller, I don't care much for horror movies anymore. What used to be entertaining was, for me, a relatively safe way to experience fear.
However, it was not, in my opinion, a healthy way to process things. It was, as I mentioned, relatively safe and I think that was the attraction. I now find that I am disgusted and depressed by the 'darkness' of such movies and what was once "fun" is no longer attractive to me.
I prefer ghost story type movies like "The Others" or shows such as "Stranger Things' to the classic horror movies these days.
