"addicted" To Horror Movies?!?

During the past few years since starting this thread, my attraction to horror movies has totally waned. Although I do still like an occasional psychological thriller, I don't care much for horror movies anymore. What used to be entertaining was, for me, a relatively safe way to experience fear.

However, it was not, in my opinion, a healthy way to process things. It was, as I mentioned, relatively safe and I think that was the attraction. I now find that I am disgusted and depressed by the 'darkness' of such movies and what was once "fun" is no longer attractive to me.

I prefer ghost story type movies like "The Others" or shows such as "Stranger Things' to the classic horror movies these days.

I like the paranormal movies, sci-fi movies, and psychological thrillers. I do tend to watch these when I'm in a bad place myself (the darker the better), it seems to help for some reason... maybe an externalization of what I'm feeling. I don't like horror movies where someone is hurt just for the sake of being hurt, like Rob Zombie movies.

I also watch horror movies but more specifically paranormal movies like the conjuring. I think w horror for me it is bc typically the good guys prevail in the end in some way and that’s why I’m drawn to it. I can’t watch movies like Saw or anything though, that’s too much. But can read about serial killers...idk..?
