Hi All,
I have been a member on this site for almost a year now and I have really made progress!
I believe that when it comes to healing, you must overcome the need to feel like you don't belong. You have to get that out of your brain. You are here for a reason no other than you are hurt, confused, angry, and sad. No matter what happened to you it is not worse or smaller than what anyone else went through. When you come to this site you know automatically that no one can hurt, betray or lie to you. You don't necessarily have to gain trust or trust anyone else for that matter.
Some of us have 1 or 2 people we talk to here and that is fine. We all kind of trust those one or two people, but knowing that they can't hurt us and knowing that they went through something similar. But what is important is for us to have one real person to trust and it really should be a counselor because everything with them is private. They can't really hurt us in anyway.
Talking about it with a real person helps us because we are talking out loud about it and our brains take that in. It is amazing what actual talking can do for us. If you don't talk about it, it just sits in us until we are about to burst. Through trust we can begin a journey of healing. For some of us it could be a long journey or it could be a short journey. Through trust we begin a healthy relationship and start healing because we know that what we went through was horrible and that the past is the past and that we can't change what happened to us.
Knowing that in itself is an awesome thing because you don't have to worry about what you can't change. Then you realize that you can change other things like not letting the person that hurt you take control of your life, not becoming a victim every time a memory comes up, but instead standing up to that memory and saying you can't control me, I am stronger and I can crush you. We cope with time, can't rush it though that would make it worse, because you need to learn as time goes by what it is that is really bothering you and then start working on those things by talking to a counselor or by talking yourself out of whatever it is that is bothering you and by letting yourself relax and have a treat or two; whatever floats your boat.
