I have made an amendment to the rules to include the purpose of who this forum is for. It was always included on the forum homepage, though I hadn't put it back yet with all the changes, so instead I amended the rules to include who the forum is for, which has always been the case.

Who Is This Forum For?

This forum is only for those who are combat veterans, not that you served in the military and have PTSD, but combat itself. You physically deployed to another country and served within a war zone; OR, you are the spouse / partner / immediate family of a combat veteran here in a supporter role for the veteran.

I will clarify here... as questions have been raised, which could apply to Navy or Airforce. If you are shooting off missiles into a country in support of troops on the ground / war zone, then that would pretty much consider you a veteran of combat. Combat is not hand to hand, on the ground, it is that you deployed into an operational area and partook in that operation. That is the key statement, you partook within an operation within another country, by physically leaving your own country to do so, which covers Navy and Airforce.

A medical officer for example, who is based in Germany and attending to the casualty of soldiers from say, Afghanistan, would not be a combat veteran unless the country deemed that support in combat and provided them the applicable benefits as a medical officer on the ground in Afghanistan would be entitled. Otherwise, they would simply be doing their job from the comfort of their posting location, not scared for their life daily in a combat zone itself.

There is a vast difference of being in combat or not. A Navy ship of the coast of an operation, providing fire support for troops, is a target, whether across the operational line or not for payment, they are a target and within the combat itself, hence firing missiles, tending injured troops, etc, from the combat zone.

I don't think we really need to get to specific here... most people know whether they served in a combat based role or not. If you did, then welcome. If you didn't, then please use the PTSD Forum as anyone else would, as you are not classified as a combat veteran.

I have amended the statement on the rules page to now reflect as accurately, yet briefly as possible:

This forum is only for those who are combat veterans, not that you served in the military and have PTSD, but you physically deployed to a combat zone itself and were either land or sea based (in direct naval or air support); OR, you're the spouse / partner / immediate family of a combat veteran here in a supporter role for the veteran.

I am glad you revised teh revision as the first revision would have meant I would have been disqualified. At least you haven't started a "combat but not in sneakers/trainers" rule. I would be out on my arse then!

There will still be people trying to get into the forum.

He is going to have to revise the revision of the revision of his first revision one day.

can't we just tell everybody else to f*ck off we're full. I can dress up as the inn keeper, Jimmy can be Jesus (same amount of letters and the first is nailed on the same), the harpies can be all the angels... oh no, wait... Thats a bible story. Best just let them in. But anybody who uses a military TLA in their introduction is banned. Thats what I'd do.
