I also have fibromyalgia. I was diagnosed with it 14 years ago, but probably had it for most of my adult life. Like everyone else, I've been trying various drugs, for years, for that and the depression/anxiety. and other conditions I have.
But, my P-doc did decide to try me on Lyrica, which does help my energy level; or DID, at first. But then I quit smoking, and had to drastically increase my anxiety meds. Then he recently decided to tell me that he's always suspected that I have ADD, so he had me start on Adderall. Now, I'm back to being exhausted, and in pain all over, once again. But, my mental state is better, ha ha ha!
Also, I do take Ambien for sleep, but since I have taken it every day since first prescribed (Nov 2006), I am probably hopelessly addicted, and don't dare to even try to go without it. I've seemed to be one of those who suffers the severe withdrawals from any drug. So I'm too chicken to try to come off any that I'm on.
2quilt, your comment about caffeine and sugar being your two favorite food groups made me grin. I am so much like that, too!
I have heard many times that aerobic exercise and a good diet keep the symptoms under control, plus are supposed to be good for depression and anxiety disorders.
But how am I supposed to feel motivated to exercise. plus give up my sugar and coffee, when I am so d--- tired, and hurt so much everywhere? Nope, not a fun place to be stuck, especially when it's been years that I have felt this way. Just tired of the same-old.
