Aromatherapy That May Help Relieve Some PTSD Symptoms

Nooooo! What shall I do? I'll be opening bottles in the shop and the shop keeper will think I'm mad!

'Excuse me, would you mind telling me what you are doing?'
'Just finding out which one will keep me grounded the best.'

I personally adore Vetivert essential oil. It is very grounding and soothing indeed. Chamomile essential oil is very comforting. Both of these two oils make me feel safe and protected.

For a really balancing bath, when your all over the place in your head, try picking one oil from each of the 3 rows. Then add 3 to 4 drops of each into a plain bath gel, mix and pour under running water just before you get in.

Basil, Mandarin

Geranium, Chamomile (German)

Cedarwood, Ylang Ylang

Dont mix 2 from the same row, as they are all balanced to work in combination of each one.

I began to feel better and stopped doing the good things for myself, essential oils, breathing exercises and grounding. It wasn't long before I was feeling overwhelmed, I wasn't sleeting and felt so low.

As I lay awake one night, I suddenly thought, 'what would Amethist do?' I put a couple of drops of oil on my pillow, and lay focusing on the aroma and breathing - it worked. I am sleeping better although the nightmares are once again back.

I can't wait to try the bath one above, I just need either Basil or Mandarin. I'll buy those tomorrow as I pass the shop. I have the others.

As a healing oil for those winter-time, upper-respiratory infections, I recommend the use of eucalyptus oil.

Simply heat a pot of water to boil, and remove from heat....allow to simmer, add a few drops of oil, drape a towel over the head, close the eyes tight and breathe the steam. Opens the sinuses and clears congestion, *(but be warned....this will sting the eyes if they are left open).

The best thing about eucalyptus oil, for me, is that it's smell is reminiscent of the vicks vaporub that my mother used to put on me when I was a sick child. It makes me feel loved, comforted and safe.

I have found certain candles and lotions to be particularly grounding and helpful when I'm having really bad flashbacks. It's amazing how helpful a smell can be. Strangely though the smells aren't usually what I would pick. I like fruity, mainly berries and flowery smells. What I've found that's helped is other stuff like coconut vanilla lotion or custard candles. I find this odd cause I do not like coconuts or custard at all LOL and would never have picked the smell on a normal basis. My theory is that it has something to do with the fact that these smells startle me a bit and are slightly disorienting thus helping pull me out of the flashback.
