I don't know what's wrong with me, but as soon as my dad died in 2012, it was a big shock on me and the day he died, I was the only one who wasn't crying in my family and I knew something was wrong with me.

Now, this has affected my life more as I always seem calm and have no emotion one way or the other. I don't know if this is PTSD but could somebody help me with the situation I have been facing for years, thank you.

I am sorry for the loss of your father. It sounds to me that maybe you haven't processes his death fully and that is why you are unable to show emotion etc. What symptoms are you having that make you think it is ptsd? Is it just the inability to show emotion?

Thank you for being brave and coming forward to tell about your father and ask for help. I know a lot of others will have some good advice for you as well. Also, there are a lot of great posts here with people going through the same things you are (I can spend hours just digging through the forums). x

I'm so sorry for your loss and the numbness you feel. This could be a number of things, including complex grief. No way for anyone to diagnose via the internet, but it's great you are reaching out. Have you seen a counselor?

I just feel like I shouldn't be reacting this way.

No reason to "should" on yourself. ;) This is a huge loss. It makes sense it would affect you for some time. The way it affects you is the way it affects you.

It may not affect you physically, but it is clearly affecting you emotionally. Almost everyone needs support from time to time in their lives. I would suffer contacting a counselor or even a local hospice. Two years after I suddenly lost a very dear friend, I went to a grief support group at a local hospice and it really helped.

Hi,

This sounds like grief, not PTSD, based on what you've said. (Especially the part about it not affecting you much----for those with PTSD, it can be devastating.)

Numbness can be a part of PTSD but there are a lot of other symptoms that one must experience in order to have a PTSD diagnosis.

I think it would be a good idea to seek out grief counseling.
