Burning With Anxiety

@Nighthawk. I feel your anxiety. My son totaled two cars and walked away from both. They're young and feel invincible but I just couldn't stop worrying about him. I wish I could comfort you with words of wisdom, but when our children face danger it's a long row to hoe. My son is a sales rep throughout New England and I never worry about his driving anymore. At least he wears a seatbelt now and has to drive safely or he'll lose his job. Hang in there, you'll settle in time.
 
NH I really feel for you and for your daughter. What a very traumatic and scary situation. I am so glad that your daughter is ok. My ex sister in law fell asleep at the wheel and she ended up so messed up it was a miracle that she lived through the healing process. Her recovery took many years.

Good came out of this bad for you. I understand the anxiety as well. Mabe you might be in shock as well. This is your only child right? What a very close call. It must be so triggering for you but you are so fortunate that she is walking away from the accident intact and ok.

I hope it brings you both closer together. Please take really good care of yourself. You will need your strength in the days ahead as you have been dealing with so much with her already. Hugs.
 
I'm so sorry. This is extremely stressful. When you get through this tunnel of extreme and completely understandable suffering you may feel better if your daughter goes to a sleep clinic. This is a sign of narcolepsy or other sleep disorders, which we now have excellent treatment and meds for. My husband was Dx'd with a form of narcolepsy and with his medication, he is a new man. Successful, lost weight, confident, happier, empowered.

Whatever happened and however you work on this, you are a good mother. Only a good mother would feel as you do.
 
I seem to have gone numb but cant control my body response I just keep burning up with anxiety and loads of heat.
 
OK @Nighthawk sounds like you're stuck in a negative feedback loop that's flooding your brain and body with stress hormones. You have to consciously change what your brain and body are doing. Anything relaxing, exercise, change your location like go to the mall or hike somewhere. Make yourself get engaged with a project as much as you just being numb. Do you know the yoga poses Mountain and/or legs up the wall? Both help you get grounded. A soothing bath with hot water. Just give your brain a job to do. You're going to feel wasted if you stay numb. Remember, the accident is over, it's not still happening, your daughter is safe now.
