Hahhaa. Every American I have met irl has been "part Scottish" n it's probably a true enough statement for them all, not doubting it. It's just funny to me how common it seems to be.I’d also like to do the horribly American thing about finding family in the highlands
But from this word I'm willing to believe your Scottish rootsdreich
Hahaha, it's funny to me, because my mum is Scottish right back to the 1400s (one of her aunts traced it, she's as Scottish as they come). My dads dad was born in Ireland and my dad considers himself fully Scottish too. So when people are like "my great great gran was born in Scotland.." I'm like "um, my actual grandad that I met was Irish and I'm still 100% scottish tho..?"It’s a weird thing over here... most of us grow up listening to our grandparents, great grandparents, parents talking about where we’re “from”. Creates this odd cultural thing I’ve never found anywhere else I’ve lived.
Oooooh. That’s painful.N I had a roommate from USA once who thought Scotland was a city in England
It actual went:Oooooh. That’s painful.
"Omg no wonder I've never heard of it. It's just a city in England.. if you'd just said England.."
