I think Hillary is extremely qualified and I think the most vetted candidate ever, but only about half of us seem willing to vote for her, according to the polls. It's gonna be a close nailbiter, I'm afraid. I haven't liked everything Obama did, but he's a grown up who is a very decent person, smart, and altruistic, not just about himself, like a certain other candidate is.

Eh, well, at least your president told Trump off. That was good. He needed to be told off.

No, I didn't. There's one mention on someone else's website linking Combetta to that user name. Sure, it could be true. Or it could be not. Until someone has some actual proof, it's conjecture. If it's him, he'll likely not be able to avoid coming forward. Or, someone will get some real IP info, he'll get doxxed, whatever. Nice distraction tactics, though, I'll give them that.

How about Al Sharpton, and Jesse Jackson for starters. How about the democrats automatically labeling all...
So, Trump buys a 6-foot painting of himself for $20,000 with money from his foundation and hasn't given any...

WaPo's David Fahrenthold discovered that Trump paid an addtional $10000 of charitable funds for a second, smaller painting of himself: David Fahrenthold on Twitter. He found it.

Trump also used over $250,000 of Trump foundation money to pay his personal legal fees. I think it's considered a fact by now that he uses the Trump foundation as a personal savings account despite the fact that he has not contributed a dime since 2009. Imagine taking money intended to help the poor and suffering and you as a billionaire decide to use it for personal expenses instead. It's really telling, I think.

Personally, I see Clinton as the typical politician who bends the the truth sometimes to make her look favorable but it has no relation to what Trump is doing. According to politifact, Trump's statements fall into false, mostly false, or pants on fire 70% of the time, 19% of which is pants on fire: Donald Trump's file. He tells what is true, mostly true, or half true only 30% of the time, and only 15% is true or mostly true .

Compare that to Clinton, who is at 28% in the categories of mostly false, false, and pants on fire, only 2% of which is pants on fire: Hillary Clinton's file. Clinton speaks what is true, mostly true, or half true 72% of the time and 50% of her statements are absolutely true or mostly true.

Can you really say that they're on a par?

I strongly feel that much of the negative sentiment against Hillary is based on sexism. I see it at work all the time - women are constantly judged less competent and reliable even when they're doing a better job.

I agree. I think a lot of the bad feeling toward Hillary is sexist. There's no other explanation. And I didn't come to this lightly. I was a child of the 60s and was raised to believe I could be anything I wanted when I grew up. I was lucky that once I got into my career, I was treated with as much respect as the men in the company. I hope I was paid as well as them, too, but don't know about that. I was always treated with respect at college, too, by mostly male profs. So, I have no chip on my shoulder when it comes to sexism, but honestly, I can't imagine what else it can be at this point. She is very knowledgeable and competent (yeah, yeah, she does need to have some computer geeks on staff, and I'm sure she will after all this), and above all, sane. He is not. He scares the hell out of me. I honestly don't get why some Americans think a guy who praises a creepy dictator like Vladimir Putin for being a great leader (because he mistakenly believes Putin called him brilliant) is someone they want in the Oval Office.

denies he invited Gennifer Flowers to sit in the front row at the debate even though his tweet doing just that is on view for all to see.
Well (we just posted the same article in two different threads) - to be fair, it's Trump's campaign that denied sending her an 'official' invitation. It appears that the tweet showed up, Gennifer's assistant replied to the press inquiry with 'Gennifer will be there', and Trump himself says he was just baiting Hillary and had no intention of actually inviting Gennifer. He's pissed about Clinton inviting Mark Cuban. I am kind of blown away by how grimy these campaigns have gotten - and that's definitely being driven by Trump.

From another interview, I read that his strategy is to get a few good "hits" on Clinton and make some sound bites - and that will count as having won the debate. I hate to say it, but things are set up for that to be pretty right on the money. I don't know that he even needs to win on his own merits. It looks like he could win just by taking her down in an avalanche of irrelevant insinuations. She, on the other hand, won't be able to launch anything at him - she'll need to make a case for her candidacy based on merit.

Lester Holt better do a solid job on this one.

Amen, Joey. I'm praying for Lester to do a really good job on this. It's really crazy that so many Americans seem to value a bully who knows practically nothing and doesn't want to seem to learn anything over someone with solid knowledge and decent plans about the real issues facing us. I am mystified. And scared. I feel like we're living in Germany in the early 1930s.
