As this software is new, and there are decisions I made prior to unknown factors about bridges and such for content managers, I used Joomla as I know it. Well... I am looking into Wordpress now as the CMS platform that contain the articles, because it seems to be far more widely supported now compared to Joomla... both are free, but Wordpress has outgrown Joomla from a community viewpoint of finding modifications, bridges with other softwares, etc. A bridge is available already with xenforo, allowing users to comment on articles and such directly from the article, which is how I wanted it. There is a lot more, but I won't bore you with the details.

The forum is not affected, nor anything you currently do... but it will provide a single login solution for articles and forum sooner, rather than later. All I have to do is convert the articles over into Wordpress, and that's it... the style may change... not sure yet.

Added: I just looked for the style, and its not yet made for WP... so I may look at an alternative for this site. See what happens.

Oh... and this will be quite quick, as Wordpress has its own importer from Joomla to WP built-in... so I really only have to get it up and running, import, then delete one version and replace it with the other.

I didn't understand a word of that. I am sure somewhere there is an explanation that makes sense. Nicolette did you understand any of it?

In simple... you will soon be able to comment directly onto the article itself, just like you did before... you will be able to submit articles for review, you may see a very slight style change to the look of the site, but nothing drastic... I do mean minor and subtle.

Hmmm... this could take me longer than anticipated though... as it doesn't have the same easy features that the current does, but then has other features and abilities the current doesn't, but I need. Scream now!!!

Working on the most viable solution... which I think will be change, but I just have to workout how first.

Ok... it seems I have worked out a viable solution... the only problem now is that existing comments won't be transferred to the articles, as they reside here in the forum.

So... users can either copy and paste them themselves, or I will move them, but they will be posted under my name instead.

That will be an after thought though, as I must first get it live, update the images once live, then I can merge both systems together, so users have a single login solution through both systems, ie. once logged in, you can use the forum or articles, then a few other bits and pieces....

Slowly, but surely, it is coming together better and better.

Just to let you know Anthony sounds just like my friend & work colleague. We have an understanding that when my eyes roll and I'm zoning out he realises most of what he's saying is going over my head. We then go for tea and a biscuit or 6.

It's a good job some have got the brains to do the technical stuff!!

Oh Ladyhope Somerset; I don't mind the nerdy stuff and like to learn some of it; I just don't have hours to do it. My darling husband however does get overly consumed by it at times and my joke was intended to poke fun more at the time factor and the way he always seems to have something else nerdy he 'now' needs to do, fix, upgrade, change, reformat, recode add features too and so on .

I love to talk too so the other 'hiccup' is I come home going blah, blah, blah and he wants to gag me and shut me up as he wants to concentrate on his geeky stuff. I am computer orientated too so it doesn't mind bother me most of the time but during these upgrades and changes I feel like if it came to the computer or me - the computer would win hence my 'shutting my mouth' joke. ;)

I have completed the change over in software... easy enough. I have installed the bridge that is bridging users between the two software's, however; it is only recognising admins at the moment, instead of all usergroups. So I am discussing with the developer on a possible solution. It works for admins, so it should only be a minor glitch somewhere.
