Supporter Combat Medic Husband With Ptsd

Hello ,my name is Holly and I have a husband with PTSD.

He was a Combat Medic through multiple deployments and suffered many forms of trauma that I won't get into right now. We have been married many years and honestly when we read all of the pre deployment manuals and attended the briefings and learned about PTSD we never in a million years thought it would be us.

My husband is just now coming to terms with some issues and quite frankly its hard for me as I have all of the responsibilities of the household and my once affectionate and expressive husband does not show love the same way anymore. He is working hard to break through his barriers and is a wonderful man but I still have a very hard time with it as he truly lavished expressions of emotions before. I guess I just want to be able to share my feelings with people who are going through or have gone through the same sort of things.

Thanks for listening!
Holly

Hi Holly and welcome to the Forum. There is a wonderful Supporters' Section part way down the Board - come down and have a read, I am sure you will recognise at lot of the things that are talked about as I recognise a lot of the things that you describe!

Hi and welcome to the forum. I hope you get alot of help and support here.

HI, and welcome to the forum, Holly.

I'm glad you are reaching out for support. You will find a lot of very supportive people here, both from those of us with PTSD ourselves, as well as those who love and support those with PTSD. Lot of good information.

I'm happy to hear he is getting help for it.

Welcome Holly. It is not easy living with a sufferer as you well know but you are fortunate that he is accepting of his condition and doing something about it. You really do need to focus on your needs as well, get plenty of support for yourself.
