Somatic Experiencing, EMDR and Brainspotting all come out of the latest research that memory in encoded in the body. The goal is to find and address it, moving it out of your body. Many believe that it is a much less painful process (I concur) and perhaps it is why many have not gotten enough relief from other therapy which do not use the body as a focus You can go on you tube and type in Brainspotting. Dr David Grand has multiple video's describing brainspotting. You can also get this with specific types of Yoga, Massage and Neurofeedback. Nothing is a must!
