i had a 3-4 day migraine a couple weekends ago. I didnt really associate it with ptsd, but wow, now i have realised why i have had them and headaches all my life. i am on a huge learning curve here.
I know right? I spent so long trying to battle my chronic migraines (3-5 a week) that I was blind to the ptsd. It was staring me right in the face... hmm anxiety is my biggest migraine trigger. I feel now that I'm getting somewhat of a grasp on what I have, I'm also starting to get a grasp on my migraines. Finally treated the root problem instead of the symptom. Changed my mindset a bit... went from migraine triggers to ptsd triggers. Same jargon though :)

My doctor once said i had to give up smoking to really find out the cause of my migraines. Well i dont smoke, or drink anymore and am not on the pill(another trigger). I know i trigger some of my headaches off with my bruxism (clenching jaw). which of course is another ptsd symptom. I would have been 10-13 when i got my first migraines, at a time when my abuse would have been truely set in and affecting me the most.

My doctors told me the same thing, and that as soon as they removed my "female parts" ..yeah, no! :( Still have them. I do get them from allergy triggers but not all the time...I've given up keeping track.

Yes. I usually just get them at the monthly time but I got one that started after my therapy session on Thursday and got increasingly worse until this AM. I woke up nauseous and miserable (sensitivity to light, noise etc. as well). I took two Excedrin migraine with some water once I stopped heaving and was fortunately able to keep it down long enough to help. I didn't connect the therapy session with it until I realised we had been discussing a very painful memory and I had just started to feel some of the feelings around it before we stopped. Not as nauseous, but this is going to be a lie on couch day and do nothing for me.

It is my belief that I get migraines mostly from medication. Xanax, and AD's give me migraines. Before I started medication I used to have maybe 2 migraine attacks a year, now I have them whenever I take xanax or a benzo, and when I up or lower my AD"s.

So the correlation between PTSD and migraines could lay in the use of mediaction.

Yes, and I treat them with Neurotherapy. It has worked wonders.

I get migraines, they have been really bad lately. They say stress can trigger migraines, which might speak to the poll results a little. I take verapamil to try to prevent them, until I decided to stop taking it. When I get cluster headaches, they put me on prednisone for a couple weeks to stop them.
