Nowadays if you would tress like in three-piece-suits or a dress with petty coats you would be the leading example of the alternative fashion movement

you don't need to go retro for the alternative fashion movement. my husband gets fashion whipped if he wears anything other than blue jeans and a t-shirt. i set the hens to cackling by wearing dresses to a school function. for my pragmatic nickel, dresses are a serious laundry saver. one garment and i'm done.

do i care what the denim fashionistas wear to the family events i'm not invited to?

my hubs was raised by strict dressers. before we married in 1980, he had to attend a TIC (three initial corp) event with his parents. i think i stole his heart at the suggestion that we wear blue jeans to the event. we did and he acted like a radical revolutionary.

This is considered dressed up in my part of the country. As long as there are no stains on the t-shirt I suppose. But holes in the jeans seem to increase the fanciness, paradoxically

Not just jeans! I just saw a girl wearing sweatpants with giant holes in them.

i am quasi serious about expecting to get high dollar for my work dresses some fashion season soon. some of my current dresses have more holes and oil stains than the old work jeans i sold back in the 80's. in the 80's, those jeans were still TOO casual for the milk carton refugees in the tech offices.
