Drunk Because I Can Be!

Don't beat yourself up about it, it's Friday!!

I used to drink just as much as you and every week. Admittedly, I have stopped but I did have a blow out last week.

I'm much more of a girly wuss than you - only managed 2 large glasses of red wine but they tasted great and I had a hangover the next day!!

I highly recommend acupuncture to lessen ptsd symptoms, it is working for me REALLY WELL. It helps me eat, sleep, feel alive, as well as shiraz, chardonnay and chablis. Any chance I can have some of that tequila? I'll drink it with lime and salt!!

I am a recovering alcoholic and the past few weeks I have been thinking about drinking just to get the emotional pain to stop. However, I have been sober since October 2009 and I keep telling myself it won't fix the symptoms from my PTSD but it will waste money I could of spent on my children.

I do know from personal experience the longer you self medicate and numb out to your emotions the longer it will take to figure out why you are feeling like you need to drink to relax. I recommend writing in a journal at home or getting on here and chatting before opening a bottle. Exhaust every option and make the bottle a last resort. It is up to you ultimately though. Good luck.

I had the same opinions of alcohol and drinking for years and years. But when everything went to hell, I relied more and more on my 'stress reliever'. It all seemed to progress into a sickness with risky behaviors. I am not saying the same thing will happen to you. But I worry for you. Take care.
